The Benefactor's Test

You have been hand selected for a once in a lifetime opportunity:

the chance to steal the world’s greatest treasure from none other than the world’s greatest thief!

My name is Spot, and on behalf of my employer, The Benefactor, I have been charged with assembling a team of the best thieves, thrill seekers, and puzzle solvers on this side of the Atlantic. According to my informants, that would include you.

I’m sure by now you’ve seen the headlines regarding the recent attempted robbery of the Emerald Diadem, the famed artifact discovered by Victor Zarkhoff nearly thirty years ago. You’ve seen how the thieves almost got away, only to be caught at the last minute, and how Zarkhoff is now building his own private security vault, calling it, “The most secure storage location the world has ever seen!” 

What you haven’t seen is how the robbery was never meant to succeed, but rather to entice Zarkhoff to take the Diadem into his own protection, which is precisely what he has done.

With your assistance–should you accept–we are going to steal this diadem, but first we need the schematics for the vault. If you succeed, we will then disclose the plan for breaking into the vault, but we cannot move forward without the schematics. Where the previous job was engineered to fail, this one must succeed. Everything hinges on this.
